Abstract

477,143. Locking-nuts. JONES, T. F. June 18, 1937, No. 16954. [Class 89 (i)] The working face of a selflocking nut, bolt-head, setscrew head &c., is provided with a series of substantially radial recesses 5 and adjoined rigid ridges 4 of angular section, each recess being behind its adjoining ridge &c., as considered relatively to the direction in which the nut &c., is tightened, and being separated from the following ridge by the flat surface of the working face. Each ridge has a flat sloping front wall 8 and a vertical rear wall 7 which is co-extensive with the front wall of the recess 5, the rear wall of the recess also being flat and sloping and the ridges and recesses extend across the full working face of the nut.
