[Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] A bed forming for the occupant an isolated atmosphere is closed by non-rigid shutters, of the kind made of strips of wood assembled together by fabric, extending between the end members of the bed and a central arch-like guide. Eight shutters 18B, four each side, slide in grooves in the guide 1 and end members 2, 3; they can be telescoped into grooves 19, formed in the under part of the bed. The end 3 supports a child's cradle formed of a base 32 hinged on a horizontal pivot and two sides 31 hinged on vertical pivots, the front being covered by a roll shutter 24 of the kind referred to above, a cover 23 for housing the cradle, and dirty-linen compartments 22. The cradle may be isolated from the bed by a shutter (not shown). The ends 2 and 3 are connected by a stay 27 and boards 16 which support spring mattress 14 and lateral benches 30 provided with cushions or mattresses. The bed ends have air-vents 4, 5 having double doors, and openings 25 having vanes, all of which openings are covered with wire gauze. The cradle sides 31 have air-vents 29 which, when the sides are not in use, register with the openings 25. The ends of the bed are provided with refrigerating chambers, tables, chests, a book-case, electric lamps, &c.
