Abstract

458,530. Universal joints. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and SPARROW, W. E., Birch Road, Witton, Birmingham. Nov. 16, 1935, No. 31774. [Class 80 (ii)] Taper trunnions 15 of circular crosssection and carried either by the shaftyokes 12, or the intermediate star- or ring- shaped member 16, of a Hooke's joint, engage rubber-lined thimbles 13, retained by circlips 20 on the co - operating bearing - member. The highlycompressed rubber lining 18 overlaps the thimbles at 21 and may be cemented to either member. The universal joint may be used at either end of a motor-vehicle propeller-shaft.
