Abstract
456,272. Levels. BOTTON, M., 207, Boulevard St. Denis, Courbevoie, Seine, France. April 18, 1936, No. 11192. Convention date, April 19, 1935. [Class 97 (ii)] Changes in volume of the liquid in a liquid level are automatically absorbed by an elastically deformable, closed capsule the inside of which is at a pressure less than atmospheric. The level may comprise a transparent base 1 and transparent top 2 secured to a cylindrical wall 4 by adhesive or by clamping rings 5, 6. The capsule 11 may be annular, as shown, or may be contained in a separate compartment to which the pressure of the liquid 8 in the level is communicated through a passage, a diaphragm, or by means of a liquid immiscible with the liquid 8. An additional capsule the interior of which is at atmospheric pressure may be used. The capsule may communicate with a suction pump to enable the pressure inside to be varied. A small cavity 3 in the upper surface of the top 2 serves as a mark for the bubble 10.
