Abstract
443,258. Universal joints. AEROELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT CO., Ltd., ELFORD, E. N., and SLINN, W. H., 3, St. James'Square, Westminster. Oct. 27, 1934 No. 30875. [Class 65 (ii)] [See also Group XL] A wireless aerial for a road vehicle, is mount ed on a gimbal joint so that it will give wher passing under bridges, trees, &c., and afterwards regain the vertical position. The aerial is mounted on a spigot 6 surrounded by a spiral spring 8, which forces a flat disc 7 into contact with the cam-shaped outer surface 2 of a universal joint. When the aerial is bent over, as shown in dotted lines, the disc 7 rides over the cam, and the spring 8 is contracted and exerts a torque tending to restore the aerial to the vertical.
