438,806. Applying closures to metal cans. WAGSTAFF, H., 21, Bridgewater Street, Liverpool. May 25, 1934, No. 15601. [Class 125 (ii)] A device for securing closures to metal drums, canisters, &c. comprises a base 1 having an axially disposed stem 2 and a number of rollers 15, 16 disposed under the base at the periphery thereof, some of which are carried by a lever 18 which is pivoted to the base. The pivotally carried rollers 16 can be brought into engagement with the closure, before the device is rotated to secure the closure in position, by actuating the lever 18. A base plate 9 is carried from within the stem 2 and is rotatably secured by a grub-screw 12. The lever 18 is cranked where it joins the periphery of the device. A hand knob 3 is provided above the stem which facilitates holding the device in position during the manual operation thereof.
