Abstract
438,708. Bending conduits; refrigerators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. June 28, 1935, No. 18588. Convention date, June 29, 1934. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [See also Group XIII] In bending conduits for heat-exchange apparatus, formed by indentations in metal sheets secured face to face, a bulge is made in the indentations to facilitate bending. Sheets 10, 11 are secured together to form a conduit 16. Bulges 25, 27, 26 are made in the sheets which are bent about the line 17. The bulge 25 is compressed in the bending operation and provides a non-restricted bend. In the flooded type refrigerator evaporator, Fig. 1, refrigerant is supplied by a pipe 18, flows into a passage 13 through the conduits 16 and passages 12, 20 to a half-filled header 21. Liquid refrigerant flows through a pipe 23 back to the passage 13, and vaporized refrigerant is fed through a pipe 24 back to the condenser as described in Specification 438,707, [Group XIII], or other source.
