Abstract

The surface tension of a nickel-plating bath is reduced to a value not above 50 dynes per cm., and preferably below 40 dynes per cm., by the addition of a wetting-agent such as sodium gluconate or a sulphonated alcohol having more than three carbon atoms; pitting in the deposit is thereby inhibited.
