Abstract

434,220. Smallarms and machine guns. FARQUHAR, M. G., 29, King Street, St. James's, Westminster. April 11, 1934, No. 10856. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] The breech end 8<c> of the barrel 8 fits plugwise into the socket 7<c> of the projecting portion 7b of the gun casing 7 and carries a rotatable screw-threaded sleeve 9<a> for effecting its connection. The sleeve engages a screw-threaded portion of the part 7b and, during assembly, is tightened until the face 8<c> of a collar 8b on the barrel bears against the front face of the projecting portion. In the construction shown, the plug and socket assembly is of tapered formation and rotation of the barrel is prevented by the engagement of projections 8<d> thereon with recesses in the part 7b of the gun casing. The sleeve is milled and has an internal shoulder 9 which bears against the face 8<e> of the collar 8<b>. When the barrel is disconnected its breech end may be protected by a screwthreaded cap which screws into the sleeve. Specifications 28587/07 and 9118/10, [both in Class 119], are referred to.
