[Class 56] Relates to a process for coating metal with enamel, glaze, or the like in which the metal, after the application of the enamel, is passed through, or inserted in and removed from, a chamber in which the burning-in temperature is maintained by any suitable heating-device. The process may be used for enamelling or glazing thin foil of copper or aluminium. A band m of the metal, coated with suitable enamel, may be passed through a flat, elongated chamber h around a roller m, the sides b, c of the chamber being heated by any suitable means. The roller may be dispensed with, and the chamber may be heated internally by electric heating-resistances. Alternatively, a heating-device may be drawn over a band of metal lying on a suitable support. Metal walls may be coated with enamel, and a heating-device may be moved over the walls to fuse the enamel. Hollow articles, such as domestic appliances, may be enamelled by using a heating device corresponding more or less closely to the shape of the coated surface. The heating device is passed into, or over, and removed from the article, the fusing of the enamel taking place while the heating device is moving relatively to the article. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 5247/96, 1805/99, [both in Class 51], 282,740, and 336,168, [both in Class 51 (ii)].
