Abstract
434,072. Vehicle spring-suspensions. DAIMLER - BENZ AKT.-GES., Untertiirkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. Dec. 20, 1934, No. 36598. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1933. [Class 108 (ii)] In a vehicle spring suspension system frictionless springs are employed particularly helical springs and rubber springs, the latter coming into action after a certain amount of relative displacement has taken place. Figs. 1 and 2 show an arrangement in which the axle d is guided with respect to the frame a by means of rollers e and guide f and levers g, pivoted about a forward point on the frame and supporting the axle d, are provided with the combined springs. These springs comprise unguided helical springs i1, i2, secured to the frame and levers by locking members k and within the helical springs are secured rubber springs m1, m2, mounted in such a manner that they come into action only after a certain compression of the helical springs. As shown in Fig. 5 the arrangement comprises a laminated spring n and a link o which is spring connected to the frame by means of a piston p and cylinder r containing a rubber spring q. The compound springing arrangement may be applied to a suspension employing a rigid axle or a half axle.
