433,680. Clips. HORSTMANN, B. G., Wyncote, Hermitage Road, Lansdown, Bath, and RYALL, S. D., Wildenhurst, Manor Road, Saltford, both in Somerset. Feb. 28, 1935, No. 6395. [Class 44] A pivoted-jaw clip particularly for use as a suspender for stockings or other wearing apparel has jaws 4, 6 pivoted together at 1 and biassed to open position by a spring 8. The jaws have gripping pads 15 of rubber or other material which may have the surfaces 16 corrugated or otherwise formed to improve the grip. As shown, the tail 7 of jaw 6 is shorter than the tail 5 of jaw 4 and has pivoted thereon at 9 a lever, the short arm 10 of which bears against tail 5 to close the clip, snapping past a dead-centre aided by the resilience of pads 15. The operating arm 12 is slotted to receive a suspending tape &c. 14, and in the closed position is in line with jaw 6 bearing against a projection 11 on tail 5.
