Convention date, Sept. 18, 1933. [Class 108 (iii)] [See also Groups XIX and XX] A resilient support for instruments, such as aircraft, &c., compasses, and variometers, comprises an outer annular member adapted to be secured directly to the dashboard &c., and an inner annular member adapted directly to receive the instrument, the annular members being connected, in order to damp oscillations, by resilient members or sets of members extending substantially tangentially to the inner annular member. As shown a compass housing 1 having a glass dome 2 has a cylindrical extension 3 supported by a clamping- ring 4, to which the inner annular conical member 10 is screwed. The outer annular conical member 7 carries a supporting bracket 6 and is secured to the member 10 by rubber cords 11, 12 passing alternately through two apertures in each member. Gaps 8 in the annular members provide accessibility to a graduated ring 9 for adjusting the compass. A greater degree of damping may be obtained by the provision of a layer 15 of sponge rubber between the annular members.
