Abstract

428,647. Facilitating escape from vehicles and buildings. EVANS, T. R., 13, Becmead Avenue, Kenton, Harrow, Middlesex. April 25, 1934, No. 12409. [Class 47 (i)] A device for breaking windows or the like to facilitate escape from buildings or vehicles comprises a bracket A adapted to be secured to a window frame, for example, and parallel plates B between which is pivoted a lever E with a hammer head L. A handle C is provided with a bar D moving in cam slots K in the plates B and adapted to engage in a groove G in the lever E. In use, the lever E is pulled back by the handle C, against a spring H, until the rod D in the slots K rides out of the groove G. The hammer head is then projected by the spring against the window N. Notches O are provided in the slots K to facilitate the resetting of the apparatus.
