Abstract

428,393. Reflectors. SOC. DES APPLICATIONS GUILUX, 78, Boulevard Richard Lenoir, Paris. Nov. 15, 1933, No. 31906. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1932. [Classes 75 (ii) and 126] A reflector for a single or multiple source of light, or heat, e.g. for use when lighting showcases, shopwindows or display rooms, and made of highly flexible material such as thin sheet metal or foil, has a curvilinear outline described by the smooth displacement of a substantially straight generatrix, and is provided with means for gradually flexing the reflector to any desired extent, the source of light or heat being situated wholly or partially within the reflector. One part or one edge of the reflector may be fixed so as to form a fulcrum portion, about which the remainder of the reflector is flexed, or both ends of the reflector may be flexed. In the forms shown in the Figures, the flexible reflecting sheet is held in a flexible trough member, the beaded longitudinal edges of which engage the reflecting sheet. In Fig. 4, part AB of the trough member 10 is held against flexion by a pair of supporting plates 11 provided with check plates 13, which carry lamp sockets. The bead 15 at the free end of the reflector is connected by rods 16 to the plates 11 and is adjusted in position by nuts 17 threading on the rods 16. In another form, Fig. 5, the trough member 23 holding the reflecting sheet 20 is fastened by means of a rod 30 extending along its longitudinal edge A to a pair of parallel side plates 26. The opposite longitudinal edge B of the trough member can be deflected by the rotation of the rod 22, which rotates in the side plates 26 and carries cams or rockers 21. The rod may be held in the adjusted position by friction, a nut, a tapped knob, or a ratchet and pawl device.
