428,129. Hydraulic transmission of power. BUTCHER, E. A., 17, Inwood Road, Garston, Liverpool. Nov. 4, 1933, No. 27265. [Class 69 (ii)] In hydraulic power transmission apparatus of the type in which the driving or driven shaft carries radial cylinders, the pistons of which are operatively connected to a cam on the other shaft, the cam 20, Figs. 1 and 2, has outer and inner surfaces engaged by rollers 18, 21 carried by the pistons. The spindles of control valves 7 may have vane extensions 11<a> acted on by their passage through liquid in the casing 26 to close the valves more or less ; the extensions engage a slip ring 11<b> capable of limited movement against spring action and of being held in desired position by a brake member 11<d>. In another form, the valves 7 are disposed between the cylinders and are actuated by connections with a slip ring positioned between the cylinder block on the driving shaft and a casing carried by the driven shaft, means being provided for allowing a slight axial movement of the cylinder block or casing to control frictional contact of the slip ring.
