Abstract
423,027. Doubling or drafting cotton &c. RICHARDSON, R. P., Cotton Laboratory, Matunga, Bombay, India, April 24, 1933, No. 11917. [Class 120 (iii)] In a method of drafting cotton and like staple fibres instead of presenting to the rollers of a drawing frame a fullwidth doffer web in the form of a single thick sliver the web of a revolving flat carding-engine is divided into a number of equal sized part webs and twice the number of these part webs are delivered to the rollers of the first drawing frame, i.e. part webs equal to the full width of two carding engines are combined to form the fleece in the drawing frame. In the arrangement shown, four slivers a are delivered from the revolving flat carding engine 1. Eight of these slivers are fed at b through the first drawing frame 2 and combined to form a single sliver c. Eight slivers c are combined at d in a second drawing frame 3 to form a single sliver e, three of which are combined at f in a fly frame 4 to form a single strand g. The combination of three strands is repeated in the fly frame 5, h, i, and the spinning frame 6, j, k.
