420,465. Advertising - banners for aeroplanes. DU PONT, M. S., 20, North 3rd Street, Darby, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Oct. 10, 1933, No. 27920. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1932. [Class 3 (ii)] In an advertising-banner which is towed behind an aeroplane, letters or the like are fastened on stringers 10 which are spaced by bars 6, 7, 8, 9, the ends of the leading bar being connected to a tow line on the aeroplane by bridle lines 14, 15 so that when the banner is taut and being towed horizontally, the juncture 16 of the bridle lines is at a higher level than the point at which the bridle line 14 is attached to the bar 6. The stringers pass through tubular hems formed on the back of the letters which are of woven silk, canvas or the like, the leading edges of the hems being secured to the stringers. Auxiliary bridle lines 17, diagonal brace lines 21 and aerodynamic resistance elements 22, 23 are provided.
