[Class 141.] Relates to foundation garment patterns from which design patterns can be obtained, of the kind comprising a plane outline of a half-front of a tight-fitting garment having marked thereon basic fitting lines including the shoulder, centre front, arm-hole, under-arm seam, waist, and hip lines and the shoulder dart and underarm dart lines, and consists in pivoting to the pattern in superimposed relation a translucent sheet bearing the same outline and fitting lines as are marked on the fixed pattern. The various fitting lines are shown at a, b &c. on the fixed pattern A and at a<1>, b<1> &c. on the translucent sheet B. The latter is used for obtaining new design patterns having the same dimensions as the fixed pattern. If, for example, it is desired to alter the bust design of a tight-fitting bodice, the sheet B is turned about its pivot until its line h<1> of the shoulder dart coincides with the shoulder dart line k of the fixed pattern. The various fitting lines on the bodice part of the foundation pattern are then re-marked on the design pattern B and the part of the latter bearing the waist and hip lines e<1>, f<1> is moved back into coincidence with the corresponding part of the foundation pattern.
