Abstract
410,993. Sash fastenings. SILOM, J. H., 48, Crown Street, Lowestoft. Aug. 12, 1933, No. 22529. [Class 44.] In a fastening, for sliding window sashes, of the type comprising an arm pivoted on the meeting rail of one sash and engaging a member on the other provided with a bevelled spring catch to lock the arm in the engaged position, the catch is pivoted on an axis perpendicular to the plane of the window, and a blade spring fixed on the first-mentioned sash bears against a suitably-shaped part of the arm near the pivot pin to move the arm to the locking position when it has been moved a short distance from its normal position parallel to the window. In the form shown, the arm K of the fastening is pivoted on one sash at E, and has the parts adjacent to the pivot shaped as shown for engagement by a blade spring F fixed on the sash to complete the movement of the arm to the locking position when this movement has been started by hand. In the locking position the arm engages under a member M of the usual form, and is held by a pivoted spring catch C, with finger-piece A, which has a bevelled nose so as to be raised automatically by the arm moving into position to lock the sashes.
