[Class 106 (ii).] To test the dimensional effectiveness of a tapered screw stopper, it is inserted in a gauge D having a movable plunger C at its base arranged so that the insertion of the stopper to a distance beyond the limit of efficiency moves the plunger C and by means of amplifying mechanism closes an electric circuit for a lamp K, which illuminates the word " Reject " on a ground glass screen M. The amplifying mechanism comprises a bellcrank E moved by the plunger C and actuating a spring H<1> to move a lever H quickly past the dead centre so as to bring a roller contact I across contacts J and close the lamp circuit.
