Abstract

401,082. Conductors. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., Prescot, Lancashire, and BLAKE, A. L., 9, Valescourt Road, West Derby, Liverpool. Sept. 17, 1932, No. 25895. [Class 36.] Electric conductors of the type comprising two coaxial conducting members insulated by air and spaced by insulating beads are made by bending a strip of metal longitudinally into a tube, the edges of which may be soldered or otherwise joined or simply overlapped, enclosing the inner conductor which is fed into the tube as it is made. The outer tube may be transversely corrugated. In the arrangement shown the strip 1 is corrugated by fluted rollers 3 and passes to a die 5 consisting of a flat mouthpiece 10 passing into a circular portion 11 as shown in Fig. 2 so as to bend the strip into a tube. The inner conductor 8, on which are threaded insulating beads 9, is fed into the die 5 through an opening 17, and the whole conductor thus formed is wound on a drum 7.
