[Class 131.] A hair-treating solution for use in permanent waving comprises a mixture of a solution of 40-70 parts borax, 10-20 parts potash and 5-15 parts sal ammoniac in 700-1000 parts distilled water with 70-130 parts spirit containing 1 part of phenol phthaleine, 10-15 parts glycerine, 2-5 parts lavender oil, and 1 part nitrobenzene. In use, the hair is wound on a curler and the solution applied both to the hair and to the usual absorbent wrapper, the hair then being heated in the usual manner.
