Abstract
386,698. Impact pulverizers. BRITISH REMA MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. and HOWDEN, P., Hubert Works, Highroad Well, Halifax, Yorkshire. Aug. 4, 1931, No. 22024. [Class 59.] In a grinding mill the material to be ground is fed into the grinding chamber by an air current and a classifier is arranged immediately over the grinding chamber, provision being made for regulating the size of the passage between the classifying chamber and grinding rotor through which coarse material returns for regrinding. As shown, the rotor A is provided with primary and secondary beaters a, a<1> respectively, the material being carried by an air current through an orifice H and ground against a surface A<1> after which it is carried through vanes d into a classifier D, the fines being carried by the air blast through an outlet orifice b. and the coarse material falling between an adjustable cone F and ring C back to the secondary beaters a<1>. In a modification the beaters a, a<1> may be intercalating pegs on one or both sides of the rotor and in the latter case the coarse material enters the pegs through a central aperture in the rotor. In a further modification the material is fed into the top of the mill through a tubular extension of the cone F. As shown in Fig. 5 the beaters are provided with a rotating coverplate C, and the return passage J for coarse particles is regulated by a tube G slidable by rods g<2> in the classifier D, the rods g<2> being adjusted by the rotation of a ring g<4> provided with inclined slots g<5> into which pins g<6> on the rods g<2> engage. The material enters with an air current at H and is thrown out by the beaters into an annular passage E from which it passes through vanes d into the classifier D, the fines being discharged through an orifice b and the coarse material returning to the mill through passage J. The beaters may be intercalating pegs on both sides of the rotor and the plate C dispensed with, the upper or secondary pegs acting only on the returned particles.
