Abstract

383,211. Systems of lighting for road vehicles. EHLERT, A., 15, Dammerowsweg, Hamburg, Germany. June 1, 1932, No. 15544. Convention date, July 1, 1931. [Class 75 (iv).] In a system of lighting for road vehicles, reflecting surfaces r, s are illuminated by one or more sources of light and are adapted to indicate the width of the vehicle, to project light downwardly and laterally, and to protect the driver against being dazzled by such sources of light. The reflecting surfaces may be flat, concave, or convex, they may be interchangeable, and they may be adjustably . mounted on the engine bonnet and on the front portion of the body of the vehicle. In the form shown in the Figure, each side of the vehicle is fitted with a triple headlight combination comprising a portion a projecting light forwardly, a portion b for illuminating the side of the road and automatically controlled by a switch t operated by the steering gear, and a portion c provided with a deflecting cap for projecting light rearwardly on to the reflecting surfaces r, s. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the reflecting surfaces may carry adjustable sources of light adapted to be used instead of, or in addition to, the portions c of the headlight combinations. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted:
