[Class 100 (i).] In a web-roll changing-mechanism, a plurality of movable supports 204, 208 are each arranged to support a web roll RX, RY running to the press and a spare web roll S, S1, and each support is moved by a separate motor, circuits being arranged that upon the depletion of any .roll all the motors are caused to operate. In Fig. 1 a finger B rests upon the surface of the running roll Rx and contact is made by arm C. A circuit is made from' the lines L1, L2 through the relay R to cause motor 64 to turn the supports to the right. Movement of cam F causes switch G to close forming a circuit in parallel-with that containing switch C. Switch G is opened by cam F1 and motor 64 stopped. During this movement the webs are'pasted, spliced, and cut. A second relay L is. provided to cause the supports to rotate in a left-hand direction. Hand switches PR, PL are provided so that the supports may be operated as desired. The circuit for each support is identical and the circuits are tied by a line T and when switches M, M1 are closed all the supports are operated simultaneously upon the depletion of any roll or the operation of any hand switch. In Fig. 2 the supports comprise bent arms 226; 227, 230, 231 and contacts W10, W11, X, X1 are provided for each roll. Upon the' depletion of the running roll, say R2, the switch W10 is closed forming a circuit from the lines L1, L2 through relay L4, contact 39 on switch Y and conductor 35. The support is turned to the left and pins 42, 38 move switches Z, Y respectively de-energizing 'relay L4 and energizing relay R2 and the supports are turned to the right until pins 38A, 38B move switches Y, Z to break the circuit. During this movement the webs are pasted, spliced, and cut. A similar operation takes place when roll S2 is exhausted. Hand switches PL2, PR2 are provided and the circuits for each support tied by lines T1, T2 so that when switches 49A, 49B, 149A, 149B are closed all the supports are operated simultaneously upon the depletion of any roll or operation of any switch. The severing means 205 may be of the type described in Specifications 348,648 and 348,658.
