Abstract

375,083. Moulding plastic substances by dipping. SINDL, O., 35, Budapesterstrasse, Berlin. June 30, 1931, No. 18853. [Class 87 (ii).] Moulds 14 are rotatable in bearings 8 carried by rods 5 mounted slidably in members 1 forming the links of an endless-chain guided at 2, 3 and forwarding the moulds continuously through the whole series of moulding processes. The rods 5 are lowered temporarily at the dipping stations by the formation of the cam track 11 on which the rollers 9 run. On emerging from the dipping tank the moulds are rotated bodily in he bearings 8 by the engagement of the toothed or friction wheels 18 with fixed racks or friction surfaces. In a modified form the rollers 9 are fitted on the same axis as the wheels 18. The endless-chains are driven by polygonal drums mounted on vertical axes. The operations in the moulding process may include one or more dipping stations with intermediate drying, precipitation and washing baths, cutting and stripping devices and mouldwashing and drying devices. At one point in the circuit the moulds may be rotated axially by friction against resilient members 28 and the moulded articles cut at the same time by knives 27 to a predetermined length.
