Abstract

372,006. Film feeding devices. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Gamble, K. P. ; 1015, Hegeman Street, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) Feb. 25, 1931, No. 5931. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1930. [Class 40 (ii).] Film magazine units for kinematograph cameras, sound recording apparatus, &c., comprise a member, detachably secured to the apparatus, to support separate film magazinedetachable from it and to form a light-tight connection between the apparatus and the magazines. As shown, a member 2 is secured to the apparatus 1 by a screw 3, and is shaped to receive identical film magazines 4, 5. Each magazine carries a spool 13 on a shaft 12 provided with an external pulley, and is secured in position by the engagement of one of two pairs of pins 20, 21 with slots 18 in flanges 17 on the member 2, and by spring fasteners 22 on the member hooked over prongs 23 on the magazine. Two film openings are formed in each magazine, and are provided with rollers 24, hoods 25, valves 26 normally engaging their seats under the tension of springs 27, and flexible light baffles 28. The slots 18 are bent, and the rotative motion of the magazines necessary to attach them to the member 2 causes a pin 29 or 30 to engage one of the valves 26 and open the film passage. When the film has been drawn from a loaded magazine, the magazine may be used to take up another film by placing it in its alternative position on the member 2 and using its second film passage.
