[Class 146 (i).] In a card file wherein the cards are perforated and threaded on to card-holders in a cover so that each card is displaced relatively to the next, and wherein intermediate leaves having a plurality of laminar strips on their upper and lower edges are provided to compensate the uneven thickness of the assembled cards in the cover, the majority or all of the laminar strips 2 of flexible material on each intermediate leaf 1 are so placed that they do not reach the perforated edge of the leaf, and therefore avoid contact with the fastening-mechanism of the file. The laminae 2 are secured to the leaf 1 at their outer edges only, preferably by adhesive, and are kept adjacent the leaf by top laminae 2a which extend the whole width of the leaf and are provided with holes 6 for the fastenings of the cover. The laminae 2 are shown as held to the leaf by means of a fly-leaf 7 of the same size as and integral with the leaf 1. The fly-leaf is cut away at 9 to avoid increasing the width at the centre of the file and is provided with holes 6 for the fastenings of the file. The laminae 2 decrease by steps also in the direction of the width of the leaf. The topmost laminae 2a are secured to the perforated edge of the leaf and extend the full width. The intermediate leaf and the laminae may be made from the same or different materials, such as celluloid or the like.
