Abstract

364,906. Liquid-level pressure gauges. ELECTROFLO METERS CO., Ltd. and ENGEL, F. V. A. E., Abbey Road, Park Royal, London. Feb. 19, 1931, No. 5216. [Class 106 (ii).] In a gauge of the variably immersed floating bell type, in order that the movement of the bell may conform to a prescribed law, the movemant of the float is in part controlled by means comprising a body of liquid accommodated in a cavity formed in the bell into which a stationary plunger dips and causes the liquid to be displaced relatively to the bell when the latter rises or falls. The bell a floats in a liquid contained in an annular chamber formed between an outer cylindrical wall b and an inner cylindrical partition c. At the upper end the bell is formed with a cavity g containing a quantity of mercury or other suitable liquid h. The casing is also provided with a bracket i depending from which is a plunger k with a micrometer screw adjustment. The adjustment is such that in the zero position the upper surface of the mercury b is spaced a short distance from the lower end of the plunger k. The bell is also provided with an internal float plunger m depending from the lower wall of the cavity and adapted to float in a cylindrical vessel o containing mercury or other suitable liquid. The fluid at lower pressure is admitted through the pipe q outside the bell, while the fluid at higher pressure is admitted by a pipe r with lateral openings s to the chamber e A rack and pinion u, v convey the movements of the float to an indicating, integrating, or recording device.
