[Class 27.] Articles stored in piles; coin action, mechanicalconnection.-The bottom article of a pile 2, Fig. 1, is delivered by a recessed roller 6, the article raising a gravity or spring-actuated flap 31 and dropping to a delivery opening. The roller 6 is freely mounted on a shaft 7 rotatable by a knob 9, and is provided with four discs 17 .. 20 at the end adjacent the knob 9, the disc 19 being cut away along an S-shaped line to form with the discs 18, 20 a coin-receiving pocket. When the knob 9 is rotated a projection 22, Fig. 3, on a plate 10 integral therewith, engages the coin which forms a driving connection between the plate 10 and the roller. The coin engages, in its first movement, a projection 24 on a pawl 21 to raise this and free it from a shoulder on the disc 17, which normally prevents forward rotation of the roller. Backward rotation is prevented by a pawl engaging a ratchet 15 on the other end of the roller. After the coin and the article are discharged, the roller continues its rotation under the action of a spring 13 to its initial position. A. blade spring 23 between the plate 10 and disc 20 carries the plate 10 to its initial position. Coin-discharging mechanism.-The coin is forced out of its coupling position, after coming against a fixed stop 33, by the action of the cam face on the disc 19.
