[Class 5 (i).] Cutting teeth for vegetable shredders are formed in a metal plate A by placing the plate on a female die 1 having a opening 2 therein, the upper part of which is formed with a bevelled enlargement 3, and forcing a punch 4 having a cutting edge 5 through the metal into the opening 2. A hole is then cut in the metal and part of the metal adjacent the hole bent down into the enlargement 3 ; the portion of metal bent over this enlargement is out at an angle. The metal is then placed on a second die 6 and pressed into a gradually sloping recess 7 of curved shape in cross section the bent portion left by the earlier operation being straightened out into the tooth. forming portion and the angle of the cutting bevel increased.
