[Class 87 (ii).] In moulding gramophone records in a substance such as acetyl cellulose, in order to render the density of the substance uniform the stamping moulds are elastically mounted, so that the pressure exerted by them is equalized. The Figure shows a moulding press, to which heat may be applied by any suitable means. Each of the steel fittings a, a<1> receives a copper plate b, to which a matrix or die c is soldered, the plates b being backed by pressure-equalizing layers d of paper, fabric, rubber, leather, or the like.
