Abstract

349,906. Flywheels. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, and ROUND, H. J., Westfield, Muswell Hill, both in London. Jan. 23, 1930, No. 2395. [Class 122 (i).] In sound recording or reproducing systems, the sound film sprocket or gramophone turntable 1 is maintained at constant speed by the provision of vibration and oscillation damping means, comprising a disc 5, fixed to the driving shaft 2, and mounted within box 7 freelv mounted on the shaft and containing friction oil. Alternatively the oil container may be fixed to the shaft and a heavy disc freely mounted thereon within the container. In each case the shaft 2 is operated from the power source 4 through an elastic coupling 3. When the system is rotating the free member runs at nearly shaft speed and resists variations in speed.
