Abstract

343,506. Gas injectors for burners. SAUNDERS, A. F., WORTLEY, G. W., and MAIN, Ltd., R. & A., Gothic Works, Falkirk. Nov. 13, 1929, No. 34667. [Class 75 (i).] An injector comprises a perforated cap 30 controlled by a rotary shutter 25, provided with a toothed rim 28 in mesh with a pinion 21 mounted on an operating spindle 20 extending through the injector wall, and a pressure control regulator comprising an axially movable plunger 11 controlling slots 8 in a sleeve 6 through which the gas passes. The cap 30 is provided with three groups of perforations 37, Fig. 3, and the shutter 25 with corresponding recesses 32, Fig. 2, so arranged that a progressively increasing number of perforations are simultaneously opened, or a progressively decreasing number are closed, on rotating the shutter. A central group of perforations 36 in the cap is located over the central opening 31 in the shutter so as to be open always. The shutter is held in engagement with the cap by a spring 23 located between a shoulder 18 and a ring 24 secured within the rim of the shutter.
