328,153. Homeshaw, G. R. June 10, 1929. Augers.- An auger is formed with a screwed point 3 and a cutting head 2 carrying a tongue 10 on its periphery for shaping the hole. A slot 6 is cut in the head, and on one edge of the slot a cutting edge 5 is formed approximately tangential to the portion 3. The upper surface of the head 4 slopes rearwardly to the other edge. of the slot 6, and the periphery is tapered inwardly towards the shank.
