Statistical apparatus; printing and perforating machines. - A combined identification, price, and control tag, or card, comprises a top portion 1, bearing information under various heads concerning the article to which the label relates, and having a blank area 5 to receive impressions from a cash register or like machine into which the card is inserted as a control device and a lower portion 2, adapted to be detached from the portion 1 along a line of perforations and having control perforations to represent, -by a code, the data, carried by the first portion. The lower portion may be marked with additional data such as cost price, also. When a sale is made, the price tag is detached from the goods and inserted into a cash register in which the perforations representing the selling price set up appropriate type wheels to print the selling price and other data on the space provided on the top portion 1 of the label. The clerks initial and the character of the transaction will be set up by the clerk and will be printed on the upper portion also at the same time, while the lower portion will be perforated to record this information. During this same operation, the machine will sever the perforated lower portion of the tag and deposit it in a locked compartment, and the top portion may be given as a receipt. The perforated portions are assembled at the end of the day and classified in card assorting machines. Fig. 4 shows the key to the code of perforations employed, holes being punched in the corners of a square. Key lines may be marked on the lower portion as shown in Fig. 1.
