Multiple bolt fastenings for van &c, doors in which there is a main slam or latch lock a with spring-shot bolt b, combined with auxiliary latch bolts at the top and bottom of the door connected with the main latch mechanism bv rods c, d so that all bolts may be retracted simultaneously by operation of a spindle f by means of a square key &c., have the auxiliary bolts h, i connected with the rods c, d by pins u, t on the rods engaging slots r, s in the bolts. The bolts h, i, which are preferably of rectangular crosssection, are slidable into casings o, p which prevent external movement and are shot by springs v, w bearing at their outer ends against shoulders on the bolts and at their inner ends against crosspieces x, y secured to the respective casings and passing through the slots in the bolts. In shot position the pins u, t are at the inner ends of the slots. The bolts h, i can thus yield without movement of the rods c, d so that when the door is shut transmission of shock to the main-latch mechanism is avoided.
