Refrigerators, domestic and like.- A refrigerator comprising spaced casings, 1, 2 is cooled by an ice receptacle 7, the ice being made in situ by the passage through water in the receptacle of carbonic acid gas supplied through a vertically-adjustable pipe 17 communicating through slots 23 with a guide-tube having opening 24 into the receptacle. After bubbling through the water, the gas passes through an opening 11<a> in the top of the receptacle and a tube 9 to the space between the casings. The cooling effect in the refrigerator may be intensified by raising the tube 17 until the slots 23 are in alignment with openings 16 in a tube disposed between the casings, so that the gas flows directly into the space between the casings. The air in the refrigerator circulates laterally. The space between the casings is provided with a relief valve 25, and the storage space of the refrigerator with a perforated shelf and a. drain for condensate. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the arrangement of the ice receptacle in an insulated space in the upper part of the refrigerator so that the air circulates in vertical paths. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
