Abstract

303,290. Riley, S. H., and Beadle, E. Feb. 6, 1928. Golf clubs.-In a golf club in which a balance weight is adjustable within a tube in the club head by means of a rotatable screw or rod, such actuating screw or rod is separate from the tube and easily withdrawable therefrom. As shown in Fig. 3, a weight B of octagonal or other shape in cross-section is adjustable within a tube A, the internal wall of which has the same configuration as the weight. The adjusting means comprise a screw D that co-operates with a screwthreaded hole in the weight and is provided at its end with a collar E the periphery of which bears on the inner wall of the tube. The tube is disposed within an aperture in the club head and the balancing means is maintained within the tube by a plate fixed to the head. In a modification, Fig. 4, the screw is replaced bv a square rod D<1> engaging a square hole in a cylindrical weight I, and the outer surface of the weight is screwthreaded to co-operate with the threaded internal wall of the tube.
