Divided on 274,058, under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 9, 1927, and addition to 267,169 and 274,058. Alkylamino compounds.-The process of Specification 274,058 is extended to amines of the benzene series conta.ining more than two amino groups, or is modified to yield products in which a newly-introduced alkylamino group is connected to the amino group of an amino-oxy compound or polyamine of the benzene series through the medium of a hydroaromatic residue. In a further modification, the nitrogen atom in the newlyintroduced basic group is in heterocyclic combination. These products may be obtained, for example, by condensing a dinitrohalogen compound of the benzene series with an alkylated aliphatic diamine and reducing the nitro groups, or by treating an aromatic amino-oxy compound or polyamine with a reactive derivative of a hydroaromatic alkylamine or of a heterocyclic compound. In examples (1) 2 : 4-diamino-1- diethylaminoethylmethylaminobenzene is obtained by condensing 2 : 4-clinitrochlorbenzene with #, diethylaminoethylmethylamine and reducing the product with stannous chloride, (2) 3-methoxy-4- isopropyloxyaniline is condensed with 1-dimethylamino-2-chlorcyclohexane, and (3) 3-methoxy-4- isopropyloxyaniline is condensed with a-piperidyl- #-oxy-gamma-chlorpropane. The products are of therapeutic value, possessing activity against blood parasites. 3-Methoxy-4-isopropyloxyaniline is obtained by alkylating 2-methoxy-4-nitrophenol with isopropyl bromide and reducing the product. 1-Dimethylamino-2-chlorcyclohexane is made by treating 1-dimethylamino-2-cyclohexanol with thionyl chloride in benzene solution.
