Rotating-tool apparatus; round holes, enlarging and trueing.-A device for grinding cylinders consists of a carrier 10 having an axial bore 18 and, in enlarged ends 10<a>, transverse bores 19 for the reception of bars 25, each, pair of which carries a grinding-element 22. The bars 25 have formed thereon rack teeth 26, which are engaged by a long pinion 20 located in the bore 18 and adapted to be rotated to adjust the radial position of the elements 22. The pinion 20 is rotated slowly to allow of fine adjustment, by means of differential gearing carried at the upper end of the carrier 10, and consisting of a gear wheel 30 secured to the carrier, a wheel 31 secured to the pinion 20, and two internally toothed members 35, 36 formed in a member 34, which is given a gyratory movement by an eccentric portion 32 of an adjusting-wheel 29 mounted on an extension 20<a> of the pinion 20. The carrier 10 is pivoted to a ring 11, which is pivoted to a forked member 16 adapted to be fixed to a driving motor. The elements 22 comprise a pair of abrading- elements 22<a> held in position in channel section members 24 by wooden strips 42 and lead or aluminium strips 41, and a pair of wooden elements 22<b> held in position by strips 41.
