293,997. Mundy, F., JÀ, and Solomon, C. April 5, 1928. V e h i c l e fittings.-Relates to wagons or motor lorries of the type fitted with a movable floor 1 to facilitate loading and unloading. The floor 1, which may consist of a band of rubber and canvas, balata and canvas &c., is fixed at its ends on drums 2, 3, and is supported throughout the length of the vehicle on rollers 4 which rotate freely on rigid axles 5 spanning the frame 6. Each roller 4 may be formed in two or more lengths mounted on the axle 5 by roller or ball bearings, and the axles 5 may be supported at one or more intermediate points by longitudinals such as 7. The sides of the wagon may be fitted with chamfered metal strips projecting over the edges of the floor 1 to prevent loose material such as sand &c. getting underneath the floor. The drums 2, 3 may be rotated by chain and sprocket gear operated from different positions by detachable handles, or it may be driven from the vehicle motor. The band 1 is longer than the vehicle, so that the part stored on the forward drum 2 is sufficient to permit complete discharge of a load of loose material without the use of a wall plate on the band. A spindle 8, Fig. 5, of the winding gear carries a short screw 12 with end stops 14 which limit the travel of a nut 13 so that the gear can only wind through a definite range.
