Abstract

285,419. Rowlands, A. P. Nov. 8, 1927. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 17, 1928]. Lantern fronts; gratings mounted in lantern fronts.- A front glass for a vehicle lamp comprises a series of superposed horizontal rectangular glass laminae 1 tilted about their horizontal axes into a stepped formation. The upper and lower faces of the laminae may be ground, coloured, or otherwise made opaque or translucent, or opaque or translucent screens 2. Fig. 1, may be arranged between the laminae. The projecting portions 4, 6, Fig. 5, of the upper and lower faces may be grooved or corrugated laterally and may also be ground, or coloured, or otherwise made opaque or translucent. The laminae may be arranged singly, as in Fig. 5, or in groups, as in Fig. 1, and the laminae of each group may increase in thickness downwards. The front. glass is held in position by a circular rim 3 and the laminae may also be grooved or corrugated vertically, or be provided with two vertical ribs.
