Abstract

277,264. Krause, R. C. May 26, 1927. Moulds; mould jackets. - Piping of ingots is stated to be avoided by decreasing the rate of cooling of two sides of the cast ingot while increasing that of the other two sides. Two adjacent or opposite sides 2 of the mould a, or of a casing b, Fig. 8, keyed thereon, are provided with insulating material 5, such as asbestos or celite, the other two with longitudinal air passages 4. A lining 6 of brick may be provided for the insulated sides of the mould.
