Abstract

274,712. Schimanek, E. Oct. 19, 1926, sories), Ltd., S., and Bariquand, G. May 3, 1926. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - A Diesel engine works on a six, eight or more stroke cycle, air being pumped on the extra strokes above the usual four stroke cycle and delivered to a heater through which the exhaust gases pass. The total air charge is compressed and fuel injected on the seventh stroke. The fuel is supplied by a pump either direct to the engine or to a chamber 15 from which it is blown into the cylinder by air, which is taken from the cylinder at the end of the compression stroke through the pipe 21; the injection by this air takes place early in the power stroke. The inlet to the pipe 21 is controlled by a piston, which, during the period when the piston is used to pump air into the heater, is in the position drawn by dotted lines and therefore reduces the cylinder clearance to a minimum.
