Testing physical qualities of materials.-Comprises apparatus for bending ring travellers by means of a lever mechanism and recording the instant of breakage as in the parent Specification modified by the feature that the lever is arranged upon the releasable cover of a box containing the slider or paper carrier and its operating means. The lever 1 and member 3 pivoted together at a pivot 2 are mounted on the detachable top 6 of a box 7. Lugs are provided on the top to engage guide holes 9 in the box. The latter is provided with guides 10 for a metal plate 11 to which a sheet of paper may be clipped by a. spring 14. A half-nut 17 engages an actuating screw 15 turned by a milled head 16. A marking device 26 on the lever projects through a slot 24 and traces curved lines on the sheet, while marking devices 27 also project through a slot 25 and mark lines which aid in the interpretations of the first lines. A regulating stop 18 determines the initial position of the slide after it is placed on the screw with a fresh sheet. The number of turns of the screw are registered by a counter 20 operated from a cam 19 which is held by a spring 22 during a test.
