Improvements in ovens for treating fuels or fuel-containing materials by heat

Abstract

272,493. Hellmann, O. June 8, 1926, [Convention date]. Coke ovens.-An oven for the treatment of fuel or fuel-containing material by heat comprises a movable platform carrying heating-walls 16 arranged transversely to its direction of motion, and spaced apart to form with a fixed enclosing casing, a series of charge containing chambers 17, which can be brought in turn into register with charging and discharging openings. The annular oven shown has inclined peripheral walls 15 joined by a flat top 14, the inclination being equal or approximately equal to the angle of repose of the material under treatment. At the charging and discharging point are doors 11, which allow the coke to be pushed out by a ram 9, and a feed hopper 8 for fuel. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the doors 11 may be adjustable towards one another, so that a small clearance space can be formed between the charge and the walls 15 ; that the charge for a chamber may be introduced through one of the doors 11 in the form of a compressed block; and that the walls 15 may be continued upwards to meet at an angle. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
