Moulds; moulding-processes.-A mould is made by first applying to the pattern plastic material, reinforced by wires, asbestos threads, wire netting, or the like, then moulding sand, also reinforced if desired, and finally casting a thickness of cement around it by the aid of a wooden mould. Before the cement sets, facings, chills, dowel pins, handles &c. may be inserted and gates &c. may be formed in it.
