Abstract

270,246. Merco Nordstrom Valve Co., (Assignees of Nordstrom, S. J.). April 29, 1926, [Convention date]. Closure members, rotary conical.-A plug valve used for oils &c. having lubricating properties comprises a plug 4 having means, such as a compressed wad of asbestos 12 and ball bearing 18, for resiliently holding the plug in its seating, a valve controlled connection 31 to the liquid conduit at the smaller end of the plug, and means, such as the screw 46, for compressing the liquid above the plug and thereby forcing the liquid into the grooves 40 - - 43 to lift the plug in its seating to facilitate actuation and lubricate the working surfaces. In the event of the controlled liquid having no lubricating properties a lubricant gun can be applied to the valve controlled nipple 55 on the connection 31 to insert a lubricant.
